Sponsorship Letter
April 11, 2004
Dear friends and family,
I am writing to let you know of an adventure that I am undertaking. This summer
I am beginning a solo cross-country bicycle trip. The trip will be 3000 miles
from San Diego to Charleston and will take approximately 2 ½ months.
The reason I am letting you know about the trip is that it is not just my journey
alone. I am getting sponsorships in cooperation with the American Cancer Society
to raise money for Cancer research. My goal is $5000.
Statistics say that 1 out of every 4 Americans have or will get Cancer in their
lifetimes. If that person is not you or I, it most likely will be a family member.
Cancer will also soon pass Heart Disease as the nation’s leading cause
of death. Money dedicated for Cancer research is definitely needed.
Along the route, I will be staying at Lutheran churches to help make the trip
financially possible and share some fellowship and experience of the trip to
date. I hope you will be willing to sponsor me. Your donation is tax deductible
and will be due upon my completion of the trip. This is to encourage me along
the route, knowing that if I don’t complete the trip, no money will be
donated. If you choose to sponsor me, you will receive a daily email with thoughts,
details, and photos of the day. I would also like you to give me the name(s)
of individuals that you want me to be riding in memory of or in support of.
I will be riding in memory of Gene Warfield and Rita Spoonamore. Please email
me your intent to sponsor me, donation level, and names of individuals to kjstour@aol.com
Thank you for helping make this journey possible. I hope to meet up with you
after the trip to tell you about the whole experience!
God Bless,
Kevin J. Singh
